Intramural Footall Comes To An End

All good things have to come to an end and this sadly was one of them. We were the 41st ward, comprised mostly of our Elder's quorum, with a light sprinkling of outsiders. The season lasted 4 weeks with guaranteed access to the post season, where everyone was entered into a single elimination tournament. In the last game of the season, I pulled / strained my right hamstring, causing me to limp every so gingerly off the field. Only to come back again in the last few minutes to help my teammates seal the victory. All week I've been struggling to even muster a walk without pain.

The first game of the tournament came way too quickly, my hamstring would only allow me to walk / hobble a few yards down the field, where my hands could still catch a ball, but legs would not let me gain any additional yardage. The final outcome of the game was 19-12, a mere touchdown separated us from continuation in the tournament. The turning point in the game was early in the second half, where our quarterback ran to the right and threw a pass right to me, both of us seeing nothing but clear skies. But out of no where, a defender jumps right in front of me, intercepts the ball, and high steps it into the end zone. With our momentum and spirits gone, we fell apart, only to record a late touchdown to keep the score close.

I must admit I'm still feeling the sorrow of defeat, but cherish the bond with my fellow ward members and brothers on the team. I made some friendships I never would have otherwise and am grateful for the chance to play a sport I love. My hope is to sneak on a team in the Fall, even though, I will no longer be in a BYU ward by then. I wish I had some pictures to post, I looked quite tough in my outfits, but I'll let the readers imagination take the reigns...

New Arrival

So just as quickly as I decided to sell my car, I bought a new car. A friend of mine named Shad owns a car dealership (Integrity Motor's), he hooks me up big time when I buy a car through him, so he was my obvious first choice. We searched high and low, had a few disappointments, but found the perfect car through eBay of all places. There were some dicey moments trying to verify the title and condition of the car. Once we found out everything was ok, I jumped on a plane and flew out to Chicago. When I say jump, I literally had 3 hours to book a flight, pack some clothes, and run to the airport. Luckily the flights were super cheap, so I booked one for my little sister Cyndel so that I could have some company.

We had some amazing luck with traffic and security lines, we made it to our gate even before they started to board the plane. We had a short stop in Phoenix (didn't even have to leave the plane). I had the message that we were supposed to pick up the car right when we got into Chicago instead of waiting till the next morning. Since our arrival time into the windy city was midnight, I already had a gut feeling this was going to be a long night.

The flight got really bumpy and Cyndel was a little scared, but we landed safely and even 15 min's early. We raced out of the airport and caught a taxi to our location. Once we arrived at the dealership it was like love at first sight, I couldn't wait to jump inside and drive off. After about 30 min's, we were on the road...

Lucky for us, the car has a navigation system, so we had guided help the entire trip. During the evening drive, we encountered multiple heavy rain storms, I've never seen the clouds burst so often. The constant gripping of the steering wheel and attention to the road kept me fully awake for about 5 hours until I just couldn't go anymore. I handed the keys to Cyndel and tried to get some much needed rest. After about an hour and a half Cyndel (who had slept on the plane and while I drove) said she couldn't handle anymore, and I was back behind the drivers seat. I lasted I believe for another 2 hours when I was falling asleep. Cyndel suggested we pull over at a rest stop and both of us slept.

After a good hour sleep I felt refreshed and awake again. I drove all the way till Lincoln Nebraska (home of the University of Nebraska), where we ate at McDonalds and refreshed ourselves a bit. From then on out Cyndel drove the whole state of Nebraska, which allowed me to rest my body and not worry about the strains of driving. I even taught Cyndel the art of passing cars.

With two states down, we embarked into Wyoming where we meet a few snow storms and just outright boredom. Once the Utah boarder arrived we were estatic and just couldn't wait to be home! All in all the drive lasted about 21 hours and we were home by 9:30 pm. It was a trip I doubt I will ever do again volunteerly, but it was some quality time with my sister, and gave her an opportunity to see some sights outside of Utah.

I just got the car back from all its servicing, tinting, and detailing. I hope you guys all like the pictures:

Car For Sale

So I've finally reached the point where I want a new car. This car actually made it longer than a year! She's been a fun car, but I'm excited for something new. My current car love interest is an 2006 Infiniti M35x, here is a picture:

So I now have the painful task I've trying to sell my current car. Everyone loves to buy, but selling is never fun. I took the day getting the car ready and took some pictures. I thought I'd post some pictures of my girl so I don't forget about her:

Disneyland 2009

So I've been back from my trip for two weeks now and today is the first time I've actually taken out my camera!! I know, I'm such a slacker. I do have good excuses (at least to me), its just been crazy busy at work since I've returned, and this week I had a friend from work stay at my place all week. Blog Drought Is Over!

Yes, Yes, Yes the long awaited blog drought is over!! It's been over a month since I last blogged and felt like today was just as good as any to start back up again. Now that the holidays are finally over, things have started to pick up at work. My main project is a company out of Boston that keeps me extremely busy with their constant updates and working with our development team on their custom development needs. I've actually quite enjoyed being part of a fairly large project and working with other departments to meet some deadlines. Enough about boring work, since the new year, I've been trying to become more physically active. The last couple of weeks I've been able to get in three sessions of basketball a week, which has been great for my cardio endurance. Although I feel extremely tired every time I play, I'm able to last the full hour to two hours of running full court and playing physical basketball. I've been trying to mix in the gym on the other days, but that's been proving difficult, work has just been too busy. But I know I can do better and will keep trying. Another new years resolution has been to be more active with my family, which has been an absolute success. With the joy of facebook, I'm able to chat with my two little sisters Cyndel and Hillary and keep updated on their lives. Cyndel and I even went shopping together at the mall last week and had a blast! I have my weekly lunch with my Dad on Wednesday's and often times meet up with him and my Mom on Saturday mornings for a lunch. Finally I have my weekly run in with my sister Heidi, her husband Lowell, and the twins Carter and Davis every Sunday night. Its not only a great chance to play with my nephews, its also a chance to chat with Heidi and Lowell, which is always very enjoyable. I've lately been meeting Heidi and the twins every Friday for lunch to hang out with them at McDondalds while the boys play in the play ground.

So the big family trip is only a week away and we are all so very excited!! Its become a yearly tradition to visit Disneyland as a family, and this year will be the first year our Dad will be able to join us. We've been planning this trip for about 4 months now, so its so exciting to see it almost here. We are doing things a little different this year, the time share club I'm a member of just built a brand new condo just blocks from Disneyland, and in order to book a reservation in advance, we had to book a whole week. So instead of doing a full week at Disneyland, we went with the Souther California City Pass, which includes a 3 Day Hopper Pass to Disneyland, but also a day at Universal Studios, Sea World, and San Diego Zoo. I've only been to Universal Studios once when I was like 10, and never to the other places, so this is something we are very anxious for. We'll have 9 of us going, including the twins, so organization and ample patience is a requirement. I'm hoping that we'll just let any issues slide and focus on having fun and being together as a family. We are planning on leaving next Saturday night/Sunday Morning at 12:30 am and driving through the night so we can sleep and more importantly the twins will be sleeping and not driving everyone insane. The latest weather reports has it snowing / raining the whole drive down there, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that the storm blows through quickly and is over by the time we start driving. I'm planning on bringing my laptop, so the idea is to update the blog on a daily basis with the latest pictures and happenings from the trip.

Well I believe that is sufficent for the blog today. I hope to be a little more persistant with blogging in the future and everyone look forward to some fun pictures shortly!!
